Gujarat Titans will play Chennai Super Kings in the first game of the IPL 2023 season on March 31 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Since moving to the Gujarat Titans for IPL 2022, young opener Shubman Gill has improved by leaps and bounds. Gill has quickly become India’s best batter in all three types of games. In the last couple of months, he has scored his first double-century in an ODI and his first century in a T20I.
The Gujarat Titans, the team that won the IPL last year, already see Gill as a possible captain if and when current captain Hardik Pandya decides to step down. Before the first game of the IPL 2023 season against the Chennai Super Kings, the cricket director for the Gujarat Titans, Vikram Solanki, talks to the media about Gill’s leadership skills.
“Shubman Gill has always been an independent leader. He took on a leadership role last year, and Solanki said on Thursday, “Yes, I think he can be captain of the future because, in addition to his great talent with the bat, he also has a smart cricket brain” (March 23).
Gill scored 483 runs in 16 matches of the IPL 2022, with an average of 34.5. He had four half-centuries, and his best score was 96.
The former batsman for England said that even Hardik Pandya wasn’t a first-time captain. “Hardik was familiar with being in charge. I considered him a leader when he joined the team last year because he had already won four IPL titles with the Mumbai Indians. It all comes down to how you act and work with the team.
“We’re glad Hardik will be joining the team. We don’t know if anything will change about him now that he is captain of the India team. Solanki said of Hardik Pandya, “I’m sure he’ll keep the whole team interested.”
During the Gujarat Titans’ run to the IPL 2022 title, skipper Hardik showed how good he was as an all-rounder. Solanki thinks that Hardik has completely fixed the problems with his lower back that he had before the IPL 2022.
“Hardik is very professional and takes care of his body, even though he has to endure a lot of stress because of the different ways the game can be played. “Our medical team is always in touch with the BCCI medical team to make sure that he is in the best shape possible for the tournament,” the director of cricket said.
David Miller won’t be able to play for the Titans when they play against MS Dhoni’s CSK at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad during the IPL 2023. “It’s too bad that David Miller isn’t here, but we must honor his commitment to the South Africa national team.” All we can do is prepare for the first game with the guys already here. “It’s just one game, and we can’t wait to have David back,” Solanki said.
