The final will likely occur on November 19 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. This is the biggest cricket stadium in the world, with enough room for more than 1 lakh people to watch the game. This year is the first time that the whole tournament will be held in India.
Even though the big event doesn’t start for more than six months, people are already talking about who will win and which teams will be in the running for the top prize. Shoaib Akhtar, a former fast bowler from Pakistan, says that India and Pakistan could play in the World Cup final this year.
The two biggest teams from the subcontinent have never played each other in the final of the ODI World Cup. They played against each other in the finals of the T20 World Cup in 2007 and the final of the Champions Trophy in 2017, but they never played against each other in the final of the ODI World Cup. In the 2011 World Cup semifinal, which took place in Mohali, they played each other. In that game, the team led by MS Dhoni beat the Men in Green and moved on to the final.
Akhtar, also known as Rawalpindi Express, says that he wants an India vs. Pakistan final this year and thinks his team will win to get back at India for beating them in 2011.
“I want India and Pakistan to play in the final, and I don’t care if it’s in Mumbai or Ahmedabad. I want to get back at them for losing the semi-final in 2011,” “Akhtar said.
This year, India would like to win the ODI World Cup for the third time, and they would like to do it in front of their home fans. On the other hand, Pakistan would like to win the ODI World Cup for the first time in 31 years.
