Jasprit Bumrah will rejoin the squad for the series-ending Dharamsala Test against England. The India vice-captain was rested for the fourth Test in Ranchi to manage his workload ahead of an IPL campaign, followed by the T20 World Cup in the United States and the West Indies.

The 30-year-old Bumrah had been in excellent form in the first three games of the series, claiming 17 wickets at 13.64. Akash Deep, a Bengal seamer, replaced him in India’s XI for the Ranchi Test. India also has Mohammed Siraj and Mukesh Kumar available for selection in a Test match that is expected to suit fast bowlers.

Meanwhile, senior batsman KL Rahul has been officially ruled out of the Test after failing to fully recover from a quadriceps ailment that flared up during the series opener in Hyderabad. According to Cricbuzz, Rahul was taken to London for an expert opinion.

Rahul’s problem arises from soreness in his right quadriceps, for which he had surgery last year. It is known that there is still some stiffness, and considering his importance to the team and the dual duties he plays, the BCCI, selectors, and team management are hesitant to take any chances with him.

Meanwhile, Washington Sundar has been withdrawn from the squad to play in Tamil Nadu’s Ranji Trophy quarterfinal against Mumbai, which begins on March 2. Sundar will rejoin the Test squad in Dharamsala after the home fixture is completed.
