Sunil Gavaskar believes this EXPERIENCED Indian batsman will succeed in England in the WTC Final.

With the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 excitement over, India now turns its attention to the World Test Championship (WTC) Final against Australia, which begins on June 7 in England. The Indian players who are part of the WTC team and have played in the IPL will have to quickly transition back to Test cricket from T20 since there isn’t much time left.

Former India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar agrees, saying in an interview with sports network Star Sport that returning to Test mode will be the most difficult assignment for the Indian players.

“The biggest challenge will be that almost everyone will be playing in a T20 style, while Test cricket is a longer format. So, I think that will be the greatest challenge. Gavaskar said, “They only have Cheteshwar Pujara, who has been playing in the English County Championship. He will be the only one who has played in the longer format in these conditions, so that will be their biggest challenge.”

He also thought that middle-order opener Ajinkya Rahane would do well in English circumstances. Rahane was picked for the WTC team in part because of how well he played in the IPL for the Chennai Super Kings, which won the tournament.

“He has a lot of playing knowledge in England because he has scored runs there. Yes, I think he will be very important at number 5. Yes, I think she has something to show. I think he still has a lot of cricket left in him, and this is a great chance for him. Gavaskar said, “I hope he will be able to take advantage of this chance and use his experience to get back on the Indian team.”
