India and Australia are getting ready to play each other in the World Test Championships Final, which starts on Wednesday at the Oval in London. Before the title match, both teams were worried about injuries. Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood is out, and Indian wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan got hurt in the practice nets.
Before the WTC Final, Team India’s bowlers hit the net at the Oval for the first time. India’s net bowler Aniket Chowdhury hit Mumbai Indians starter Kishan on the hand with a rising ball. For the rest of the net practice, Kishan was seen with a wrap on the hand where he got hit.
Rishabh Pant, the regular wicketkeeper who also bats, is ill, so Ishan Kishan or KS Bharat could play wicketkeeper in the final against Australia. Yuzvendra Chahal, a leg-spinner for the Rajasthan Royals and Team India, thinks that India will miss Pant, but Bharat and Kishan have enough experience.
“Rishabh is a hitter who likes to hit the ball, so of course everyone misses him. But you can’t do much about it. All you can do is support the stars who have gone there. KS Bharat and Ishan Kishan need our support. They have played cricket a lot, so they know what to do. Ishan is related to Pant in some ways. It’s also a chance for them to show what they can do in a longer format,” Chahal told News18 Cricket Next in an exclusive chat.
Bharat has played in four Tests for India, while Kishan has yet to play in his first Test for India.
A few days ago, Sunrisers Hyderabad coach and former Australian all-rounder Tom Moody put Bharat ahead of Kishan in the team that would play against Australia in the WTC final.
“Ishan is a leadoff man. I’m not trying to say that he can’t play Test cricket. He has a lot of potential, but in limited-overs cricket, he bats first. At number six, things will be different. “Yes, he hits hard from the first ball, which can be bad in England, but Bharat can also hit well and play shots,” he said.
