As the deadline for player retention and release approaches in the Indian Premier League (IPL), rumors of a major transaction between two franchises is prevalent. While the relevant teams have remained silent, rumors about the possible trade of a team captain have circulated. Negotiations at various levels are ongoing, but no agreement has been reached.
The parties’ ability to reach an agreement is still unknown, but it should be known in the next two days when the transfer window and retention deadline shut. This website attempted to contact both sides, but they stayed mute on the proposed exchange. D-Day is November 26th.
Meanwhile, the Chennai Super Kings are ready to release three more players so that they may enter the auction with over Rs 30 crore in finances. Apart from Ben Stokes (Rs 16.25), who has decided to retire from the IPL, there is also surplus from Ambati Rayudu (Rs 6.75), who retired last year. The management will also release Dwaine Pretorius of South Africa and one of Sisanda Magala of South Africa and Kyle Jamieson of New Zealand (both for Rs 1 crore).
Players including as Harry Brook, Sam Curran, Tim Southee, Lockie Ferguson, and perhaps Shardul Thakur might be released, although the Kolkata Knight Riders are unlikely to let go of Andre Russell, as has been suggested. The Delhi Capitals are considering a major overhaul, but the names are being kept under wraps.
The auction, as previously reported, will take place on December 19 in Dubai. Top World Cup performers such as Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Travis Head, Rachin Ravindra, and Daryl Mitchell, among others, will be available for purchase, with up to 50 players expected to be purchased in the auction. The IPL is likely to begin in mid-March, following the conclusion of the India-England five-test series on March 11.
Meanwhile, it has been learned that the WPL auction will take place on December 9 in Mumbai. Each team’s salary cap will be Rs 13.5 crore, and the league will most likely take place in February. The venues have not yet been determined, however this time there may be various venues, if not a home-away style.
