Gautam Gambhir, the coach of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), is someone who doesn’t hide how he feels. During the 2023 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Gambhir has been very bold and has always stood by the players on his team. One of the most talked-about things about the IPL 2023 has been Gambhir’s fight with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) pitcher Virat Kohli.
The Mumbai Indians beat the LSG by 81 runs in the IPL 2023 Eliminator match, which took place on Wednesday at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. LSG’s best bowler was Afghanistan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq, who took 4/38, but MI scored 182 for 8 after playing first at Chepauk.
Soon after he got rid of Suryakumar Yadav for 33 off 20 balls, Naveen got rid of MI all-rounder Cameron Green for 41 off 23 balls. Green was in good form. Green was clean bowled by Naveen, giving LSG two wickets in the 11th over. This made Gambhir lose his cool.
After the game, Naveen-ul-Haq said that Gambhir was a hero. “Gautam Gambhir is a famous person. Everyone is aware of what he has done for Indian cricket. “I look up to him as a coach and cricket legend, and I learned a lot from him,” Naveen said in the press conference after the game.
Since his match with Virat Kohli earlier this season, the Indian crowd has been after Naveen. Virat Kohli, who plays for Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Naveen got into an angry argument, which led to a big fight between Kohli and LSG coach Gautam Gambhir.
After the RCB-LSG game, Naveen shared pictures of sweet mangoes on Instagram whenever the Bangalore-based team didn’t do well in other games. After RCB lost their last match to the Gujarat Titans and were kicked out of the league, Naveen posted a laughing meme video to his Instagram Story.
When asked about the chants of “Kohli, Kohli” during Wednesday’s Eliminator, Naveen said, “I like that everyone in the ground is singing his name or the name of any player. I enjoy it. It makes me want to do a good job for my team.”
