Where will Pakistan hold Asia Cup 2023?

ISLAMABAD: According to The News, Pakistan will hold Asia Cup cricket matches in Lahore and Multan in order to avoid travel and logistical issues that may arise from such a short international endeavour.

According to a well-placed source within the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the two venues have been chosen to host four matches, with Multan set to get a share.

“Multan would receive a portion of the proceeds from Lahore, which will be the main venue in Pakistan.” We worked hard to get a fifth match and are still negotiating,” they stated.

“Since the decision was made by the previous PCB administration, it is quite a difficult task at this point in time,” a board insider said.

The Asia Cup’s official schedule is likely to be released in the coming days. Another change is that spectators traveling to Sri Lanka for the remainder of the Asia Cup will be required to purchase tickets in US dollars.

“We are also attempting to develop a policy in which spectators in Sri Lanka will be required to purchase tickets in US dollars.” A large number of spectators from the subcontinent and other areas of the world are expected to travel to Sri Lanka to watch Pakistan play India at least twice in the Asia Cup.”

“If both arch-rivals reach the final, it will be the third time they face each other.” A large number of Indian and Pakistani supporters are likely to attend these matches, according to the source.

Meanwhile, the PCB official expressed satisfaction with the ICC income adjustment, in which Pakistan will receive the highest-ever proportion — the fourth largest behind India, Australia, and England.

In accordance with its constitutional right, PCB has repeatedly sought further information in recent weeks and at ICC meetings to better understand the reasons for allocating weightage to each of the criteria and calculating distributions.

The PCB felt that in the absence of the relevant information, statistics, and equations, such a critical judgment should not be made hastily. As a result, the PCB asked that this topic be postponed until the next ICC meeting.

Finally, the majority of members did not believe it was possible to defer this item and voted in favor of passing the Model, notwithstanding the PCB’s objection as a matter of principle.

As a result of the Pakistan cricket team’s performance in men’s ICC tournaments and bilateral cricket, as well as the PCB’s own massive fan base, which results in significant economic value, the board was ranked among the top-four nations in this model.

This increased revenue share would allow for significantly larger investment in improving cricketing talents, which will be advantageous in propelling Pakistan cricket to new heights.

The Asia Cup schedule will most likely be announced during the current week.

With the first match about to begin in Pakistan, the PCB, as the event host, is looking forward to greeting cricket fans from around the world to enjoy Pakistan’s legendary hospitality.
