Sri Lanka’s 15-man squad for the impending ICC Men’s World Cup in India is largely predictable. Dasun Shanaka will continue to head the team in the tournament despite contrary rumors.
After missing the Asia Cup final due to a Grade 3 injury, leading spinner Maheesh Theekshana has been cleared to participate in the upcoming competition. In addition, Dilshan Madhushanka, Dilshan Madhushanka, and Lahiru Kumara, who had recently missed the Asia Cup due to injury, have returned to the team.
Wanindu Hasaranga, however, continues to sit out after failing to recover. SLC has stated that the spinner could return at some stage in the tournament if he recovers entirely, while Dushmantha Chameera remains sidelined with a shoulder injury.
On September 29, Sri Lanka will begin their World Cup preparations with a warm-up match against Bangladesh.
