Prior to the forthcoming player auctions, the Gujarat Giants, who finished fourth in the inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League, have released 11 of their 19 players. As announced by the BCCI on October 19, the five franchises retained only 29 of 89 players for the upcoming season. Sixty players, including 21 international cricketers, were retained.

Annabel Sutherland, Kim Garth, and Georgia Wareham, along with Sophia Dunkley, who replaced the injured Beth Mooney in the inaugural season, have been omitted by the Giants. They now have ten available slots, including three expatriates, with a total prize pool of $5.95 million.

Only Aparna Mondal, Jasia Akhter, and Tara Norris have been released from the Delhi Capitals’ squad, which finished second this season. Both Mumbai Indians and UP Warriorz have retained thirteen players and released four, with UP Warriorz also releasing the veteran pacer Shabnim ismail.

While UP Warriorz have a total purse of INR 4 Crore and DC have INR 2.25 Crore, MI have the least with INR 2.1 Crore.

In addition to four domestic cricketers, Royal Challengers Bangalore, who finished last in the table in the inaugural season, have released three foreign cricketers: Dane van Niekerk, Megan Schutt, and Erin Burns. Regardless, RCB will have only INR 3.35 Crore to spend at the upcoming auctions.
