USA 230 for 3 (Monank 68, Gous 57, Taylor 54) beat Canada 199 (Johnson 74, Harmeet 2-14) by 31 runs
The USA’s top three batters – Steven Taylor, Andries Gous, and captain Monank Patel – all hit half-centuries as the team totaled 230, opening the door for a comfortable 31-run victory at Prairie View.
After being introduced, the USA started brightly, with openers Taylor and Monank adding 104 in 8.3 overs. Taylor initially played the more aggressive foil, hitting seven fours and three sixes in his 25-ball 54 before being eliminated by Parveen Kumar. The USA, on the other hand, did not slow down, with Gous and Monank both scoring 50s for the second game in a row. Monank hit ten fours and two sixes in his 68 off 35 balls, while Gous’ 57 off 35 balls included three fours and four sixes. The carnage did not stop there, however, as Aaron Jones added a late flourish, blasting four sixes in a 20-ball 34 to push the score above 200. Canada used seven different bowlers, five of whom went for 11 or more runs per over.
Canada, in response, lost starter Srimantha Wijeyeratne for a first-ball duck, but Aaron Johnson and Pargat Singh led a 95-run recovery. Canada had a glimmer of hope at 112 for 1 after 11 overs, but both Johnson (74) and Pargat (27) were bowled in short succession, handing the USA a commanding lead. A few more batters got off to a strong start, including Harsh Thaker, who went undefeated for 34, but the USA were never really threatened, as Canada folded for 199.
Seven different USA bowlers claimed wickets, with Saurabh Netravalkar, Shadley van Schalkwyk, and Harmeet Singh taking two each.
