Bangladesh has rested experienced campaigner Mahmudullah for the first two One-Day Internationals against Ireland.
Ireland arrived on Sunday for three One-Day Internationals (ODIs), three Twenty-Twenty-Innings (T20Is), and one Test. The ODI series will be played in Sylhet on March 18, 20, and 23, with the T20Is taking place in Chattogram on March 27, 29, and 31. The one-off Test will begin on April 4 in Dhaka.
“We have rested Mahmudullah in the series and are looking forward to experimenting with other options that we currently have. We need to see our different combinations as we prepare our team for the next World Cup, but his absence does not mean that his career is over “Minhajul Abedin, BCB’s chief selector, told Cricbuzz on Sunday.
Uncapped Zakir Hasan has been named to the squad of 16, which also includes the return of Yasir Ali, Nasum Ahmed, and Shoriful Islam. Taijul, who was named to the ODI squad against England at the request of Tamim Iqbal, did not make the cut this time.
