At the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction, the Rajasthan Royals (RR) were able to hire several good cricket players. The franchise from Rajasthan went into the one-day event with 13.2 crores left in its bank account, making it the third-smallest of the ten teams. Notably, the first-ever winners had nine spots to fill at the mini-auction, four of which were for foreign players.
The Rajasthan team management started things off by making bids for Harry Brook, but they were not successful. They also did everything they could for Sam Curran but had to let him go because they didn’t have enough money.
They were able to get an all-rounder from another country. West Indian star Jason Holder was the first player they bought. The former captain of the West Indian team cost the Royals $5.75 million to add him to their team. The next player they bought was also from another country. For Rs 50 lakh, they bought South African wicketkeeper-batter Donavon Ferreira.
The Royals then chose Kunal Rathore, a wicketkeeper who also bats and plays domestic cricket for Rajasthan. They were able to sign him for Rs. 20 lakh, which was his base price.
In the second round of the auction, Rajasthan tried to get Australian spinner Adam Zampa and Indian fast bowler KM Asif. They bought them for Rs. 1.5 crore and Rs. 30 lahk, respectively. They bought Murugan Ashwin for Rs. 20 lakh to add another leg spinner to their team.
In the last few seconds of the auction, they bought Indian batters Akash Vasisth and Abdul PA for 20 lakh each. The English star batter Joe Root, who had not been sold earlier in the day, was bought by the Royals for Rs 1 crore to fill out their team.
