The ex-Pakistan cricketer’s inflammatory remark came amid uncertainty surrounding India’s Asia Cup fixtures.
The uncertainty surrounding India’s games in the next Asia Cup continues to dominate headlines, with rumors claiming that Rohit Sharma and company will not travel to Pakistan and will instead play their matches at a neutral location. According to ANI, the location is most likely to be in England, Oman, Sri Lanka, or the UAE. While nothing official has been declared as of yet, former Pakistan cricketer Imran Nazir has made an incendiary declaration. During a recent interaction, Nazir stated that Pakistan’s security is perfectly OK, and that India does not travel to Pakistan because they are terrified of losing.
“There is no security concern.” Consider how many teams have visited Pakistan. Forget A teams; even Australia came to visit. These are all merely ruses. The truth is that India will not travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup because it is frightened of losing. Security is merely an excuse. Come play some cricket. “There is no turning back once you start playing politics,” he remarked on the Nadir Ali Podcast.
“People want to watch India vs. Pakistan games because they are more exciting.” The entire world is aware of it. Even we as cricketers believe that India-Pakistan matches are necessary for cricket to reach every part of the globe. We used to play a lot of cricket. They are a well-balanced team, but India cannot afford to lose. It’s game, and you’ll win some and lose some,” he continued.
“The main issue is that we don’t sit down and talk together.” Politicians should convene and converse in the same way that we are doing. “They have a lot of pressure on them,” Shahid Afridi said at a press conference on the sidelines of Legends League Cricket.
“It would have been wonderful if India had come.” It would have been a step forward for India in terms of cricket and Pakistan. We do not want battles and fights in our generation; we want our relationships to improve. We played with a lot of love and affection against India. When we went to India, we had a fantastic response. If you remember the 2005 series, Harbhajan and Yuvraj used to go shopping and to restaurants without being charged. This is the beauty of our two countries.”
