The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match between Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings on Wednesday kept the crowd at Guwahati’s Barsapara Stadium on the edge of their seats. The Royals lost by five runs in a very exciting match where they needed to score 198 runs to win. RR’s captain, Sanju Samson, was upset that his team lost the hard-fought game because he thought his team was “one hit” away from winning.
On Wednesday, RR tried to reach 198 runs, a challenging goal. In the end, they got to 192 for 7. “We got off to a great start, and we ended the power play in a great way. We thought we would have some boundaries in the middle overs, but they bowled well. “I think the momentum went a little down there,” Samson said at the news conference after the match.
“Even though our run rate went down, we did well to get so close.” We were just one ball away from a six,” said Samson, who became the player with the most runs for the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL.
Ravichandran Ashwin joined Yashasvi Jaiswal at the top for RR instead of Jos Buttler when they tried to reach the goal. And Samson told what the move was all about.
“Josh Buttler got hurt a little. He was getting stitches because he hurt himself playing fielding. So the physiotherapist asked for some time, but there wasn’t enough time to get the stitches out and go open. The plan was to send Ashwin bhai and keep everyone else back. Samson said, “He (Buttler) seems fine, and I think he should be fine.”
Wasim Jaffer, the hitting coach for the Punjab Kings, praised young Prabhsimran Singh, who opened the batting with captain Shikhar Dhawan and scored 60 runs off 34 balls. Jaffer said that Prabhsimran, who had not played much for PBKS in previous IPL seasons, took the chance with both hands.
“He (Prabhsimran) has been a great player, but no matter how good you are, you need a steady run,” said Jaffer. “That way, he can play with a lot less fear.”
“He has always been a good player, and it’s great that he’s doing well now.” “We don’t have Bairstow, who can bat like that, so I’m happy for him.”
Prabhsimran and Dhawan scored 90 runs together in the first stand. They did this in just 61 balls. But when the young player left, Dhawan changed gears and hit 86 runs off 56 balls without being out.
“I think Dhawan knew he could take his time to fiddle when Prabhsimran was going so well. “That’s where experience counts,” Jaffer said.
