It took a while for the Mumbai Indians (MI) and their captain Rohit Sharma to get their first win of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season. Rohit got his first fifty in the IPL after 24 games without getting one. On Tuesday, this helped his team beat the Delhi Capitals by six wickets at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
After the win, Rohit was happy and made a FaceTime video call to his wife, Ritika Sajdeh. Rohit’s wife congratulated him on winning “Player of the Match” and told him their daughter Samaira would be happy to see the prize. “Sammy will be glad to see the trophy, but why shouldn’t I be?” Rohit played a joke on Ritika.
After that, the MI captain asked his wife where she was watching the game. “I watched from my room. I could not stop crying. “I can’t talk; that game was crazy,” Ritika told Rohit.
Ritika then asked her husband, Rohit, how he felt after the match. Rohit told her, “No, no, I’m fine.” I went inside because I didn’t want to watch the end. My nails are gone. In the IPL, I’ve been in many games like this over the past 15 years, so I’ve seen it a lot. Rohit said, “I miss you guys and will see you tomorrow.”
Rohit got the most runs with 65 off 45 balls, including four sixes and six fours. This helped MI chase down 173 and win on the last ball of the game. “The most important thing is to win the game. Since the first game, we have worked hard. We had a camp in Mumbai, and it feels good that the result was in our favor. Every first win is a big deal. We just played a Test match here, and the field looked different than it did before. On this pitch, it was essential to get a slow bowler. Rohit said at the end that the spinners kept us in the game.
Skipper told the MI hitters to keep hitting to beat DC’s score. “To beat the score, we had to hit well. I thought that everyone had raised their hand. We had to make it matter for the whole group. I knew we had to keep pressing and take our chances, so I had to use the power play. I tried to make a relationship, and Tilak and I talked a lot. We needed to work well together. We have a lot of young players who have never played in the IPL before, so we need to have faith in them. We need to give them confidence and try to make the dressing room a good place. We don’t need to make big changes, and that’s very important,” added Rohit
