Anushka Sharma, a Bollywood star and the wife of former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Virat Kohli, was at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Monday to watch her husband play against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the “Southern Derby” of the IPL 2023. Before Anushka could cheer for Kohli and the RCB, CSK captain MS Dhoni’s star power took over the field, leaving Anushka speechless.
Even though Dhoni only had to face one ball during the game, the noise at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium was too loud for him to hear. Several pictures and videos of Anushka at the stadium went viral on social media.
In one of these videos, she sat with RCB officers in the stands. When MS Dhoni came up to bat, the crowd’s cheers for him blew her away. She was caught telling her friends, “They love him,” while Dhoni was marking his territory.
Even though the clip was only online for a few seconds, fans with sharp eyes could figure out what the Bollywood star was saying to her friends. As soon as the clip went viral on social media, fans left red hearts and fire emoticons in the comments section.
One fan wrote: “Loved by the whole universe, #MSDhoni,” one fan wrote. Someone else said, “Moment of the day.”
But soon after, Anushka was upset when CSK’s “impact player,” Akash Singh, got her husband out for just 6 runs. Virat Kohli and Mahipal Lomror were both out early for RCB, trying to reach a massive total of 227. In the first over, Akash Singh got rid of Kohli. In the second, Tushar Deshpande beat Lomror.
Glenn Maxwell and RCB’s captain, Faf du Plessis, led the way as they hit CSK bowlers all over the field and took singles regularly. The partnership between Maxwell and Du Plessis reached 100 runs in just 48 balls.
Matheesha Pathirana, a fast bowler for CSK, saved 19 runs with a perfect yorker in the last over. He got Suyash Prabhudessai out, giving his team an 8-run win over RCB.
“I’ll tell the boys to shrug it off and move on.” I became stiff and lost some strength. I’d have liked to have gone harder in the middle stage. Du Plessis said after the game, “I tried, but I couldn’t keep up.”
