Prithvi Shaw of the Delhi Capitals made 47 runs in six IPL 2023 matches before being left off the list of substitutes for his team’s match against SunRisers Hyderabad on Monday.
Prithvi Shaw is not having the greatest of times. The batsman scored 47 runs in six games for the Delhi Capitals in IPL 2023 before being left off the substitutes’ list during the team’s win over SunRisers Hyderabad at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Monday. Former New Zealand cricketer Simon Doull has slammed out-of-form batsman Shaw. Doull has questioned his fitness and stated that the teenager has suffered the price for not changing his game.
“You can’t keep going down the same path.” If something isn’t working, you have to change it up, and he has to recognize where he is in his game. It simply isn’t good enough. In Bangalore, there was a run-out problem with (David) Warner.
He remained on the backside of the bench the entire while Delhi was fielding and did nothing, and when he came out, he was sluggish with the jogging. These minor details in the game come back to haunt you at times. He has had a bad season. I don’t think he’s in great shape. “I don’t think he has adjusted his game as such, and he has paid the price,” Doull remarked on Cricbuzz.
In the match, Washington Sundar’s all-around effort was in vain as Sunrisers Hyderabad lost by seven runs against Delhi Capitals, their third defeat in a row in the IPL.
Sundar (4-0-28-3) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (4-0-11-2) exposed the Delhi Capitals’ batting frailties in the first half of the game, limiting them to 144/9 after David Warner elected to bat.
However, an incomprehensible batting style in which SRH never looked to dominate resulted to their defeat, as they were held to 137/6.
