Kolkata Knight Riders, who have won the Indian Premier League (IPL) twice, said that Litton Das, a wicketkeeper and batter from Bangladesh, flew back home on Friday because of a severe medical issue in his family. The team has sent an official update to show their support for Das and his family and wish them strength during this challenging time.
“Litton Das had to return to Bangladesh early this morning (April 28) because a family member’s health was in danger. “We hope that he and his family can get through this hard time,” the brand said in a public update.
In the accelerated round of player bidding last year, Das was bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders for his starting price of INR 50 lakhs. He played his first IPL game on April 20 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium when the Kolkata team played against the Delhi Capitals. He had been busy with international duties until then. Das scored four runs in four balls but missed two crucial stumpings by Lalit Yadav and Axar Patel in a close game that Delhi won.
With six points from eight games, the Kolkata Knight Riders are in seventh place on the points table. Their next match will be against the defending champion Gujarat Titans on April 29 afternoon at their home field, Eden Gardens. Nitish Rana will be in charge of the Gujarat Titans.
