Virender Sehwag, frustrated with Umran Malik’s ‘shuffling lengths’ all season, blames him for SRH’s failures.

Former India cricketer Virender Sehwag criticized Sunrisers Hyderabad fast bowler Umran Malik for not knowing his bowling length, even though he has worked with South African great Dale Steyn for a long time.

Sehwag’s comments came after the SRH bowlers had yet another bad game in which they failed to protect 200 runs.

“The only way you can win is to get rid of those hitters. Markram had kept fine leg, square leg, and deep midwicket, and he asked the bowler to throw a back-of-the-length ball. But the hitters didn’t do anything wrong. ” SRH took the chance, but the batters hit them all over the park,” Sehwag told Cricbuzz in an interview.

“They weren’t very good players. The leader could have told them to keep one of long-on and long-off. The problem was that you didn’t stop all of the runs.

“If it were a South African fast, I could understand why he wouldn’t want to bowl too full. But for Umran Malik, the trouble is that he keeps shifting his length. He doesn’t have enough experience yet. He might have worked a lot with Dale Steyn, but he doesn’t really know how tall he is. Even though he has worked with Steyn for so long and learned from him, he keeps making the same mistakes he did last year, the former batter added.

Notably, Umran Malik had a great year in 2022, when he took 22 wickets in 14 matches, but the pacer couldn’t repeat his success in 2023. The speedster could only take five wickets in eight IPL 2023 games. Malik’s not being in the playing XI for many games this season also raised a lot of questions, and skipper Aiden Markram was criticized a lot for giving a vague answer to the situation.

When asked about Umran’s absence from the SRH starting XI in several games this season, Markram said there was something wrong, but he didn’t know what in the match before MI. Hyderabad came last out of 10 teams in 2023, with only 8 points and 4 wins out of 14 matches.
