Sri Lanka’s exhilarating two-run victory over Afghanistan on Tuesday clinched qualification for the Asia Cup’s next round for four teams.
Co-hosts Sri Lanka and Pakistan have advanced to the final four alongside India and Bangladesh. The four teams will now compete in three more Super 4 matches to determine who will play in the September 17 final in Colombo.
Pakistan will host Bangladesh at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore to kick off the Super 4 stage on September 6, while Shakib Al Hasan’s squad will face Sri Lanka at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on September 9.
India and Pakistan will play their second match of the tournament at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on September 10, before Rohit Sharma’s squad returns to the same venue two days later to face Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka will then face Pakistan in what appears to be a pivotal match in Colombo on September 13, followed by India’s match against Bangladesh on September 15.
On September 17, the two dominant teams at the conclusion of the Super 4 stage will compete in the final at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
