Australia has included left-arm spinner Kuhnemann in its roster.

Kuhnemann is coming in as a replacement for Swepson.

Australia is bringing in left-arm spinner Matthew Kuhnemann for the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023. He is joining the team as a replacement for legspinner Mitchell Swepson, who will be departing for the birth of his child. Kuhnemann could potentially be included in the starting lineup for the Delhi Test beginning on February 17, if Australia decides to make changes to their spin combination that was used in the first Test in Nagpur.

During the first Test, Australia had two offspinners, with debutant Todd Murphy taking seven wickets. They chose not to include left-arm orthodox spinner Ashton Agar, who is part of the current squad in India. Despite their efforts, Australia suffered a comprehensive defeat, losing by an innings and 132 runs on a spin-friendly surface.

Additionally, the visitors are anticipating the return of Mitchell Starc from injury, as well as checking on the fitness of allrounder Cameron Green. Kuhnemann has not yet played a Test for Australia, but has four ODI appearances to his name after making his debut in June 2022.
