The latest MRF Tyres ICC Men’s Player Rankings feature a significant reshuffle, with Babar Azam of Pakistan reclaiming the No. 1 position for ODI batters from Shubman Gill of India. Aspinner of England has become the newest player to occupy the top spot for T20I bowlers.

Adil Rashid rises two positions and assumes the leading position on the Twenty20 International bowlers rankings, surpassing Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan (second) and India’s Ravi Bishnoi (third). This achievement coincides with the departure of several players from England and the West Indies from the T20I rankings less than six months prior to the commencement of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

Rashid becomes just the second player from England to hold the No.1 ranking for T20I bowlers after off-spinner Graeme Swann held the top spot back more than a decade ago.

It means three different players have held the premier position on the list for T20I bowlers over the last three weeks, with West Indies spinner Akeal Hosein (up three spots to sixth) and South Africa counterpart Tabraiz Shamsi (up three places to ninth) also making eye-catching moves inside the top 10 on a busy day for the rankings.

Rashid becomes only the second Englishman, following off-spinner Graeme Swann, to occupy the No. 1 classification among Twenty20 International bowlers. Swann occupied that position over a decade ago.

It means that for the past three weeks, three different players have occupied the top spot on the list of Twenty20 International bowlers. On a busy day for the rankings, West Indies spinner Akeal Hosein (up three positions to sixth) and South Africa counterpart Tabraiz Shamsi (up three places to ninth) also made noteworthy moves within the top ten.

Suryakumar Yadav, the highest-ranked batsman in Twenty20 Internationals for India, was surpassed by West Indies quartet Brandon King (up six positions to sixth), Nicholas Pooran (up two positions to 12th), Rovman Powell (up fourteen positions to 23rd), and Kyle Mayers (up nine positions to 33rd). Additionally, Phil Salt, who had an outstanding run for England in the Caribbean, leaps to twenty-eighth.

Suryakumar’s advantage at the top of the table has been reduced by a total of 100 rating points following his rapidfire century in the concluding match of India’s series against South Africa. His closest competitors are Aiden Markram (third) of South Africa and Mohammad Rizwan (second), both of whom are Pakistan veteran innings.

England spinner Moeen Ali (up two positions to equal eighth) and West Indies seamer Jason Holder (up one rung to 24th) also make the ground in the most recent Twenty20 International all-rounder rankings, which place Markram in third place, one place behind Shakib Al Hasan of Bangladesh.

In 50-over cricket, the situation is even more precarious, as Babar reclaims his position as the world’s No. 1 ODI batsman from Gill, following the India opener’s respite for the ongoing series against South Africa.

Harry Tector of Ireland advances one position to seventh on the One-Day International batsmen rankings with a 33 against Zimbabwe. Rassie van der Dussen and Heinrich Klaasen of South Africa both fall one position to eighth and one rung to tenth, respectively, and lose ground within the top ten due to low scores in the opening match of their series with India.

In the wake of Australia’s decisive triumph over Pakistan in Perth, there have been notable developments in the most recent Test rankings, as a number of players representing the defending ICC World Test Championship champions have made noteworthy strides.

On the updated rankings for Test batters, opener Usman Khawaja (three positions higher to fourth) surpasses Babar and approaches top-ranked Kiwi Kane Williamson within striking distance. Additionally, teammates Mitchell Marsh (12 positions higher to equal 68th) and David Warner (up nine positions to 27th) gain ground following solid performances against Pakistan.

A comparable narrative unfolds regarding the bowling order: Nathan Lyon, Pat Cummins (up three positions to fifth), Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Starc all advance by one position to eighth and two positions, respectively, while India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin maintains his lead at the top.
