Pakistan Amps Up Preparations for 2024 T20 World Cup with Extra Thrilling T20Is

After narrowly missing out on the title in 2022, PCB seeks to guarantee sufficient game time prior to the 2024 T20 World Cup.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has prioritized T20 cricket for the national team ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup by scheduling additional encounters in the format prior to the tournament in the West Indies and the United States. As a consequence, Pakistan will now play additional Twenty20 Internationals against New Zealand at home, delaying the West Indies series.

As part of the new WTC cycle, the West Indies were originally scheduled to tour Pakistan in February 2019 to play two Tests. This has now been postponed until January 2025. After their tour of Australia later this year, Pakistan will now travel to New Zealand to play five Twenty20 Internationals commencing on January 12. In April 2024, New Zealand will return to Pakistan to play five T20Is as part of the lead-up to the T20 World Cup.

PCB has now verified that Pakistan will play a total of 19 T20 Internationals prior to the World Cup. The Asian team will also play three matches against the Netherlands, two against Ireland, and four against the current world champions, England. Pakistan’s original tour of New Zealand in January 2025 to play three ODIs and five T20Is has been moved to April 2025 due to these changes.
