Rohit Sharma, the captain of the Mumbai Indians (MI), said that the team had found two players who could fill the big shoes of Jasprit Bumrah in the IPL 2023 season.
The star fast bowler hadn’t played international cricket since September of last year, when he broke a bone in his lower back and had surgery to fix it. This could be a big problem for MI since Bumrah is their best bowler and Rohit’s go-to guy.
But at a press conference before the IPL 2023 season, Rohit Sharma stayed confident that the team would have replacements for Jasprit Bumrah. He said:
We know Bumrah can’t help us. A few guys on the team could do what Bumrah did. We’ll keep an eye on it, and if Bumrah is in a specific spot, we hope the other guys can come to help us.

Even though it won’t be easy for MI to replace someone like Jasprit Bumrah, Rohit Sharma played down the situation because he wanted to avoid putting weight on the young and uncapped players in the squad. He thinks this is a chance for those people to show who they are and make a difference.
Rohit said:
“Bumrah is a colossal miss. But this is a chance for the younger people on the team. I don’t want youngsters to feel too much pressure. The guys know what they must do before the first game, and the last thing we want to do is put pressure on them. There are a lot of guys who have never played in the IPL, and if they get a chance, I’d like to make it easy for them.
MI might say who will replace Bumrah and Jhye Richardson in the next few days.
