Ness Wadia reports that the appointment of Bangar was unanimously approved by all PBKS proprietors.

Sanjay Bangar's first stint with the Punjab franchise ended in 2016.

A recent IPL development that came as a surprise was the Punjab Kings’ appointment of Sanjay Bangar as their chief of cricket development. During his previous tenure, Bangar, a former Indian cricketer with substantial coaching experience, encountered a turbulent relationship with the franchise’s promoters. Nevertheless, the administration has underscored that every proprietor is extending a warm reception to the former India batting coach.

“Basically, when Bangalore released him, we were very happy. So it’s a homecoming of sorts in that sense. And we’re so happy that he’s come back and he’ll be working with Trevor [Bayliss, the head coach] and everyone else. And his return is very much appreciated and welcomed,” Ness Wadia, the co-owner of Punjab Kings, told CricAdvisor

The disputes between Bangar and Priety Zinta, one of the proprietors, were extensively documented. However, Wadia maintained that the decision to recall Bangar was reached unanimously by all franchise promoters. “We seized the opportunity to rehire him, and all the promoters agreed on this decision.” We were all in favor of Sanjay’s return due to the fact that he began his career with us and is now a coach for India. “He had prior experience with RCB as well,” Wadia stated.

Bangar was dismissed by the franchise following the team’s last-place finish in the 2016 season; however, according to Wadia, the parting was amicable. “During the initial tenure, there was no formal farewell. I believe that to be incorrect. “Sanjay will hopefully remain with us for some time,” he added, anticipating that his second stint would be lengthier than his first. “I am ecstatic that he will contribute his extensive experience working with Shikhar Dhawan, the captain, Trevor Bayliss, the entire team, and Satish Menon, the CEO.” “Additionally, I believe that a great deal of structure will be implemented, and the Punjab Kings will emerge as a formidable force in the years to come.”

The 2014 season marked the pinnacle of Punjab Kings under Bangar, as they advanced to the final before succumbing to Kolkata Knight Riders. Subsequently, they have failed to qualify for the IPL playoffs, frequently concluding in the losing half. We had our most successful season during his tenure. Wadia hoped, “With the help of Trevor and Shikhar, I am certain he will lead us to greater heights, which we richly merit due to the caliber of our team.”
