Prithvi Shaw’s Northamptonshire career is ended with a knee injury.

Due to a knee injury, Prithvi Shaw will miss the remainder of his Northamptonshire County tenure. The 23-year-old sustained the injury while fielding against Durham in a One-Day Cup match. Subsequent scans have disclosed that the injury is significantly more severe than anticipated. He is in contact with the BCCI medical staff and will see a specialist on Friday (August 18) in London.

It is a significant setback for the youngster, who began the competition with a bang, scoring 244 and 125* against Somerset and Durham, respectively. His other two scores were 34 and 26, giving him a total of 429 runs that led the division at the time of his departure.

“In his brief tenure, Prithvi has had a significant impact on our institution. “It’s a huge disappointment that he won’t be with us for the rest of this competition,” said head coach John Sadler.

“He is an exceedingly humble and respectful young man who was so appreciative of the opportunity to represent Northamptonshire. In addition to his performances on the field, he had a significant impact in our locker room. Nobody desired victory more than him, and he contributed to our success. We hope to see him scoring runs again in the near future.”
