Ricky Ponting praises Shubman Gill ahead of the WTC Final, saying ‘he has some tremendous class’.

Ricky Ponting, who used to be the leader of Australia and is a star, said that Shubman Gill had a big year in 2023. Gill played in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Gujarat Titans and made 890 runs to win the Orange Cap. He also had a good run with the Indian team before the main event. Ponting says that Gill has everything he needs to be a great cricket player and has a lot of class.

Ponting praised Gill a lot.
“He seems to be a great young man. He also has a little bit of attitude. He’s a little bit cocky. He really knows how to act. ” He’ll probably need that kind of front-foot pull shot he uses against fast bowlers against this Australian attack,” said Ponting.

India is going to play Australia in the final of the World Test Championship (WTC), and they will be looking for Shubman Gill to take the lead. Gill has already hit eight hundreds this year, and five of them have been for the national team. The last time he played was in the Ahmedabad Test against Australia, when India won the series 2-1. He got 128 runs.

Ponting also talked about Mohammed Shami, a fast bowler who made a name for himself in the IPL with the team GT. Shami got the Purple Cap in the IPL 2023 by taking 28 wickets, and he will be another important part of the team.

“If India wants to win this game, I think he needs to step up or try to take his game to the next level. Even the Australian hitters know how good Shami is, whether he is throwing a new ball or an old one, in Australia or India. They know how dangerous he can be and what skills he has. He will have to do it,” Ponting said.

When is the final of the WTC?
The WTC final will be held on June 7 at London’s famous Oval Stadium. India has a chance to win a Grand Slam of ICC titles if they win. At the moment, the only piece of the puzzle that is still missing is the WTC prize. India won the ODI World Cup in 1983 and 2011. In 2007, they won the T20 World Cup, and in 2000 and 2013, they won the Champions Trophy.
