Dindigul Dragons defeated Ba11sy Trichy by six wickets in the second match of the first doubleheader in the Shriram Capital Tamil Nadu Premier League 2023 at the Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science Cricket Ground in Coimbatore on June 14.

The toss was won by Ba11sy Trichy, who chose to bat first. During the toss, Dindigul Dragons captain Ravichandran Ashwin stated that if the World Test Championship Final had been postponed, he would have struggled to play in the first game.

Ganga Sridhar, captain of Ba11sy Trichy Raju V and Jafar Jamal batted first for the squad. The Dindigul Dragons’ new ball was taken by Saravana Kumar P.

Jafar Jamal started the inning with a boundary past the covers, but Saravana Kumar recovered brilliantly to remove the dangerous batter for four runs.

Dindigul Dragons’ next over was bowled by S. Arun. Akshay V. Srinivasan, the new batter, did not make an impact when he edged one off S. Arun to first slip while attempting to drive the larger delivery.

Ganga Sridhar Raju V, who had been reduced to a spectator in the first two overs, hammered a couple of boundaries off Saravana Kumar P in the next over, taking full advantage of the powerplay fielding constraints.

Ravichandran Ashwin came in immediately and dismissed Daryl Ferrario with a carrom ball in his second over.

Mani Bharathi, the wicketkeeper, was the next to depart when he mistimed a pull ball off Saravana Kumar P to Varun Chakaravarthy at mid-on.

Varun Chakaravarthy, the mystery spinner, made a strong start to the season. In his first two deliveries in the first over, he dismissed Shajahan M and Antony Dhas W.

Ganga Sridhar Raju V and number 7 batsman Rajkumar R combined for the greatest Ba11sy Trichy partnership of 65 (40). Rajkumar R contributed the most to the stand, with 38 (19). The pair played well against the spin and scored the most runs.

In the 17th over, Rajkumar R blasted two sixes and a four off Ravichandran Ashwin. Ravichandran Ashwin, on the other hand, broke the partnership in the same over, knocking Ganga Sridhar Raju V for 48 (41). In the next over, Rajkumar was out for 39 (22) to Subodh Bhati. He had four sixes and one four in his knock.

The Ba11sy Trichy finished their innings with a score of 120/10 in 19.1 overs. Varun Chakaravarthy took three wickets for the Dindigul Dragons. Ravichandran Ashwin and Saravana Kumar P each took two wickets, while Arun S took one.

Dindigul Dragons batted first, chasing 121 to win. Vimal Khumar R and Shivam Singh opened the batting. T Natarajan got the Ba11sy Trichy off to a flying start, dismissing Vimal Khumar R for a duck in the first over.

Shivam Singh and Baba Indrajith put on a vital second-wicket stand of 58 (35) to steady the pursuit. Shivam Singh led all contributors with 42 (26). Alexandar R won the opening round with a score of 46 (30). The knock had six fours and three sixes.

Adithya Ganesh, the Impact Player of Dindigul Dragons, joined Baba Indrajith after his dismissal. Because there was no scoreboard pressure, the duo took their time putting together the inning. The next victim was Baba Indrajith. He completed 22 of the 23 deliveries. Silambarasan R broke the tie after a low grab from Daryl S. Ferrario.

Sarath Kumar C was subsequently dismissed by Antony Dhas W for 5 (5). Subodh Bhati came in next and scored 19*(8). He finished the inning for Dindigul Dragons in the 15th over of the second inning, along with Adithya Ganesh (20*).

Subodh Bhati blasted two sixes off Antony Dhas W, assisting the squad to a six-wicket victory in 14.5 overs. T. Natarajan was the highlight of the Dindigul Dragons bowlers, with 1/15 in 3 overs.
