BCB committee starts evaluating the miserable World Cup campaign.

The three-person group was put together by the board on November 29.

On Sunday, the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s newly formed three-member special group got to work trying to figure out why the team did so badly in the ICC World Cup that just ended.

Bangladesh had their worst World Cup since 2003. They only won two of their nine league games and came in eighth place in the 10-team event held in India. At the 2007, 2011, 2015, and 2019 World Cups, Bangladesh won three games each time.

The three-person group was made by the board on November 29. It was made up of BCB directors Enayet Hossain Siraj (chairman), Mahbubul Anam (member), and Akram Khan (member).

In the evening, the panel called on BCB top selector Minhajul Abedin and a member of his selection panel named Habibul Bashar. They were then joined by pace bowler Mustafizur Rahman and wicketkeeper Litton Kumar.

“The thing is that we’re talking about it with everyone.” It’s not a question. “We had to talk to everyone because we didn’t do as well as we thought we would at the World Cup, so that we can take the team to higher levels in the future,” Enayet, chair of the committee, told reporters after the meeting on Sunday.

“These are just the beginning stages of our findings. When we’re done, we’ll give them to the board, and they’ll give you all the information,” he said, adding that they haven’t decided when to meet with head coach Chandika Hathurusingha and captain Shakib al Hasan. Enayet said, “We haven’t planned it yet.”

Before, Bangladesh’s head coach Chandika Hathurusingha, captain Shakib al Hasan, and team director Khaled Mahmud gave a report on how they thought the World Cup went.

BCB officials said there was no deadline for the special committee to give their findings. Since some of the players and coaching staff are still in the Test series against New Zealand, there doesn’t seem to be a need to rush things right now.

“Some of our players are practicing for the Test series against New Zealand right now. After the Test series, we have a tour of New Zealand for a white-ball series, and we don’t want to bother them while they are playing.” As soon as someone is free, the special group will talk to them whenever it’s convenient for both sides, a BCB official said.
