Coach Stephen Fleming responds firmly when asked about the change in CSK’s batting order.

After the team’s loss to the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2023, CSK coach Stephen Fleming was asked in a news conference about the choice to not put some of the team’s ‘strong hitters’ higher in the batting order.

Although the Chennai Super Kings failed in their run chase against the Rajasthan Royals, head coach Stephen Fleming stated that they did not feel the need to change the batting order because they “don’t mess with things that are going well.” CSK managed 170 for six against a target of 203 to lose by 32 runs, their third defeat in eight IPL matches this season. When asked if CSK could have sent some of their big-hitters higher in the order, Fleming responded, “The set roles are very important.” (Ajinkya) Rahane has performed admirably for us at No. 3. We don’t muck with things that are working well.

“We just came up against a team that took the pace off the ball today.” We were unable to gain any traction in the first six overs.

“Devon Conway, who is in excellent form, was unable to get started.” The inning’s rhythm was slow. We committed mistakes while attempting to catch up to the game.” Rajasthan struck 64 for no loss in the powerplay and went on to collect 202 for five after batting first at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, while Chennai managed just 42 for one in the first six overs.

Fleming conceded that they lost the game in the powerplays, claiming that the opponent was “outstanding” with both bat and ball in the opening six overs.

“They were outstanding with the bat and the ball in the first six overs.” “That just set up the next two innings for them,” Fleming remarked during the press conference.

“We could have been better, but part of that is because we were playing away from home, trying to figure out what length to bowl and what kind of swing conditions we were going to get.” That is part of the fun of playing away.” Yashasvi Jaiswal set the tone with a 43-ball 77 before Devdutt Padikkal (24 not out) and Dhruv Jurel (34 off 15) delivered the late assault to keep RR alive.

The CSK bowlers were unlucky in the closing overs, as many edges went for boundaries.

“This pitch looked a lot different than the last one. It worked well. It was starting to slow down towards the finish, but Rajasthan played a fantastic home game. They jumped right out of the gate. “Jaiswal batted brilliantly to establish some momentum,” the 50-year-old coach added.

“We recovered nicely in the game. We got a little unfortunate. With a few nicks in the last 3-4 overs, we definitely scored 16-20 runs more than we anticipated. That’s just the way the game is. Those extra 20 runs made it difficult.” Jurel stated that he has prepared for match situations in which he can make a difference with a few balls.

“My mantra is to bat first and worry about the rest later.” I simply acted out the situation. Every day, I batted for three to four hours. “I make certain that I’m getting something out of my batting,” Jurel explained.

“I try to keep the game as simple as possible.” I’m confident that I can hit wherever. I know I can get massive hits and completely change the game even if I only play 6-7 balls.

“This is a spot assigned by management, so I practice here.” It doesn’t matter if I’m getting runs or if I have fewer balls, I have to score huge runs,” he added.

MS Dhoni ran out Jurel, and the hitter stated he was just blessed to share the field with the Indian legend. “I’m privileged to share the field with MS Dhoni.” I’ve always wanted to do that. I’m not under pressure; instead, I’m inspired. “He’s behind me, he’s watching me, and that’s all I need,” he added.
