MS Dhoni has not yet stated whether he will continue to play for CSK beyond the IPL 2023 season.

However, Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni never took such a risk. Though Dwayne Bravo believes the Impact Player rule will extend Dhoni’s career, former India cricketer Virender Sehwag disagrees. Sehwag clarified in a discussion that the Impact Player rule does not apply to Dhoni
As speculation about Dhoni’s future in the IPL beyond this season lingers, Sehwag believes the veteran wicket-keeper batsman can play again, but not as an Impact Player.
“If you’re fit, playing cricket in the 40s is not difficult.” MS Dhoni hasn’t played a lot of cricket this year. He is not exacerbating his knee injury. He would frequently come in for the final two overs. If I tally the total balls he faced this season, I believe he faced 40-50 deliveries,” Sehwag stated on Cricbuzz.
“The ‘Impact Player’ rule does not apply to MS Dhoni.” Because he’s just interested in the captaincy. For captaincy, he must remain on the ground. The Impact Player rule applies to anyone who does not field but bats and bowlers who do not need to bat. Dhoni must bowl 20 overs; if he is not captain, he will not even play as an Impact Player. When asked about Dhoni’s future after the IPL 2023 season, Bravo replied, “100% (when asked if Dhoni will return to play for CSK in 2024? ), especially with the Impact Player rule.” He can continue to advance his profession.”
The IPL 2023 final could be Dhoni’s final game. The ‘Thala’ has not ruled out a return but is attempting to buy some time before making a decision.
