MS Dhoni has won four IPL titles as captain, second only to MI captain Rohit Sharma’s five titles.
Despite having participated in the tournament since its inception in 2008, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are one of the few teams to have never won the Indian Premier League championship. Notably, RCB has participated in three IPL finals since 2009 (Deccan Chargers), 2011 (Chennai Super Kings), and 2016 (SunRisers Hyderabad) but has lost each time. Wasim Akram, the former captain of Pakistan, believes that RCB would have won three IPL titles if MS Dhoni had been their captain.
“RCB would have won three IPL titles if MS Dhoni had been their commander. They have not previously won any trophies. They have tremendous support. In addition, they have Virat, the best player of the modern era, but they have not triumphed. “If Dhoni was in RCB, he would have helped them win the title,” Dhoni said in an interview with Sportskeeda.
Akram further praised Dhoni’s leadership skills, stating that the 41-year-old understands how to inspire confidence in his teammates.
“Dhoni is accustomed to captaining a team. Even Virat would have developed this propensity by now, but Dhoni already had it. He is not tranquil on the inside, but he portrays calmness. When players observe that their commander is relaxed and maintains a hand on their shoulders, they gain confidence. Dhoni is an individual who understands how to instill confidence in his players,’ he continued.
Notably, Dhoni has won four IPL titles as captain, second only to MI captain Rohit Sharma’s five titles. Kohli, on the other hand, has represented RCB since the commencement of the T20 league in 2008 and is still attempting to win the coveted title for the first time in his career.
Additionally, he is the only Indian captain to have won three separate ICC tournaments.
RCB are presently positioned fifth in the IPL 2023 points table. They were defeated by Delhi Capitals on Saturday.
