What a rout for LSG!

Mark Wood completes the game by claiming a five-for with two more scalps in his last over. Wow, it really stood out. Today he really shook up DC and ended with a 5/14 record. By a score of 50 runs, LSG comes out on top. When QDK comes back for the following game, they will have a tough time deciding who to start. If DC wants to mount a comeback, they need their hitters to step up in their upcoming matchup.

Crucial dismissals hurt DC in the middle overs

The equation becomes more difficult. Even though Rilee Rossouw seemed in fine form, he was ejected for 30, and Rovman Powell also flopped. Since David Warner is still at large, DC is facing intense pressure. From the remaining five, they need 84.

Wood slows down DC’s pursuit, then Rossouw takes off. Overs 7-10

75-3 (10 overs) (10 overs)

After Wood picked up Shaw, Marsh and Sarfaraz to produce figures of 2-0-3-3, DC slowed down considerably in their scoring, managing only 11 runs in 3 overs after the powerplay, Rilee Rossouw clubbed 17 runs off a poor over from Ravi Bishnoi, and got DC back on track. Nonetheless, they needed 119 runs to win off the remaining ten overs, which meant they needed to score roughly 12 runs each over.

Wood’s power play disrupts the openers’ celebration.

47-2 (6 overs) (6 overs)

Warner and Shaw got off to a fast start, aiming for a 17-run over off of Unadkat. But, Mark Wood stomped on their early success by knocking over Shaw and Mitchell Marsh off successive deliveries to mount a comeback in the powerplay. Actually, Wood bowled a no-ball instead of a hat trick ball (the review was ruled off), and Sarfaraz nicked the free shot behind to prevent Wood from getting his fake hat trick.

END OF THE INNINGS!

Pooran, Badoni aid LSG’s comeback in Overs 16-20

After sputtering between overs 11 and 15, the team’s batting took off in the final five overs thanks to a 21-ball 36 from Nicolas Pooran and a 7-ball 18 from Ayush Badoni. Khaleel redeemed himself, picking up 2 wickets for 30 in his quota of overs, whereas Sakaria was clubbed for 53, including 22 in the final over, courtesy Badoni, and the last-ball impact player, Krishnappa Gowtham!

19.5: Krishnappa Gowtham (replacing Ayush Badoni) introduced as LSG’s impact player with one ball remaining in their innings, and he hammers a first-ball six– talk about impact!

19.0: Aman Khan takes over as DC’s impact player, replacing Khaleel Ahmed.

Overs 11-15: LSG stage comeback after Axar ends Mayers carnage

127-4 (15 overs) (15 overs)

It started with Kuldeep making Hooda hole out with the flight, and then the wicket of Mayers followed, with Axar Patel turning one about a meter to knock over the West Indian. It had to be something ridiculous to get Mayers out, and then the run-rate slowed, the pressure built up and Stoinis nicked one through to the keeper off Khaleel, triggering wild celebrations — remember, Khaleel needed a redemption after dropping a sitter, that cost his team 50 runs! 38-3 in this phase, which clearly belonged to the Delhi Capitals!

Overs 7-10: Mayers cuts loose after the powerplay!

89-1 (10 overs) (10 overs)

After a run-a-ball 17 in the power play, Mayers cut loose, clubbing Mukesh Kumar for 2 sixes in the 7th over, and Axar Patel for a four and a six in the 8th. 17(17) to 64(32) — 47 off 15 balls after the powerplay, and LSG have come roaring back, hammering 59 off 4 overs after the powerplay! Mayers has taken a liking to Axar Patel, hammering him for 30 in overs! Khaleel must be rueing that drop now!

POWERPLAY: Rahul’s woes continues as LSG get off to choppy start

LSG 30-1 (6 overs)

Delhi Capitals’ all-Indian pace trio, perhaps not even their first choice after Nortje, Ngidi and Mustafizur arrive, have kept LSG at bay, stifling Mayers and Rahul in the powerplay, keeping them to 30-1. KL Rahul was snapped up by Sakaria, who got him caught at deep square leg for 8. Mayers got a life courtesy a dolly drop from Khaleel Ahmed — which could have been Sakaria’s second.
