In the 24 Tests he has played against Australia so far, Virat Kohli has scored a total of 1,979 runs. He has hit eight hundreds and five half-centuries against Australia, giving him a batting average of 48.27 in 24 games.
Kohli gave Star Sports’ Follow The Blues show some information about how he plans to play against the Aussies before the ICC World Test Championship final. He said:
“I think I have a good idea of how they think. They play hard and try to win. All 11 players know what to do. They are aware of what is going on in the middle. Even if they only get a small chance, they know how to take it and beat the other team. When I play against a team like that, I get a lot more pumped up.”
It is worth noting that Kohli broke his Test century drought earlier this year in Ahmedabad with a century against Australia. In that game, he scored 186 runs on 364 pitches.
“I have no choice but to improve my game,” Virat Kohli says of playing Australia.
During the same conversation, Kohli stated that because the Australian side is so determined and dedicated, he has no choice but to step up his game against them. He went on to say:
“I have no choice but to improve my game if I want to beat them.” Otherwise, the passion and determination that these 11 players have will not allow you to re-enter the competition. As a result, I must raise my game to a higher level.”
Virat Kohli will play his debut Test against Australia on English soil tomorrow. It would be fascinating to watch how he does in the WTC final in 2023.
