Shadab Khan will be replaced in Pakistan’s ICC World Cup squad.

Shadab Khan was considered to be a lock for a spot in Pakistan’s World Cup squad, but he now faces doubts following a poor showing in the Asia Cup.

Shadab Khan was once thought to be a lock for a spot in Pakistan’s ODI World Cup squad, but he now finds himself in doubt after a poor showing in the 2023 Asia Cup. Shadab’s dismal contributions, with only six wickets to his record, played a crucial influence in Pakistan’s exit.

Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the performance of some top players, including Shadab Khan. As a result of the revelation, Abrar Ahmed has emerged as a probable World Cup squad member.

Abrar Ahmed’s rise began during the Test series against England, during which he demonstrated his leg-spinning skills. Abrar has immediately gained attention for his ability to bowl faster in the air with varied variations.

He has 38 wickets in six Test matches despite just playing in the Test format. Chief selection Inzamam-ul-Haq was pleased with the youngster’s immediate performance in the extended format.

While Shadab Khan may not be completely removed from the World Cup squad, speculations indicate that he may be deprived of his vice-captaincy role. Shaheen Shah Afridi, who led the bowling attack to a strong performance in the Asia Cup, is a strong contender to take over as vice-captain.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is exploring a number of administrative reforms, including adjustments to the squad. A meeting is being planned between chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq, skipper Babar Azam, and PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf, with decisions pending approval.

In addition to Shadab Khan, opener Fakhar Zaman’s spot in the World Cup squad is in jeopardy after failing to register a single fifty in the Asia Cup. Furthermore, Hasan Ali and Zaman Khan are prospective replacements for Naseem Shah, whose participation in the World Cup is in doubt. Haris Rauf is anticipated to recover in time for the World Cup, which is fantastic news for Pakistan.
