PCB Rejects discussion of 2023 ODI World Cup Neutral Venues For Pakistan Matches

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) clarified that there had been no talks about a neutral spot for the Pakistan cricket team’s matches at the ODI World Cup in India in 2023. But the PCB said that its head, Najam Sethi, and the management committee are still discussing whether India’s games for the Asia Cup 2023 should be held in Pakistan or at a neutral site.

Sethi told the media about the hybrid plan for the Asia Cup that he had shown to the officials of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) to solve the problem caused by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) not sending its team to Pakistan. The ACC talks about the plan to play India’s games at a neutral site and the rest of the games in Pakistan. The PCB’s formal statement discussed what the media in Rawalpindi/Islamabad had said.

In the statement, it was also said that the October 2023 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup has yet to be discussed at any ICC meeting. The PCB made it clear that it is disappointing that many media sources are spreading false information about where Pakistan’s games will take place in the 2023 ODI World Cup. The PCB said that a significant English-language newspaper misquoted, misinterpreted, and misrepresented Sethi’s comments, making it seem like the PCB’s hybrid model was given and talked about at the ICC, which is untrue.

The PCB said that, at this point, it is only talking with the ACC about holding the Asia Cup. It has yet to speak with the ICC about hosting the World Cup. But the mixed model will be pushed at the right time and place in the ICC. The PCB wants to clear up the situation and ensure the public gets the correct information.
