Sunil Gavaskar, the legendary India opener, has named Rajasthan Royals youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal as the uncapped prospect to watch out for in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. It was a fantastic season for the left-handed batter, who wowed everyone with his batting style and even earned the Emerging Player title. Gavaskar stated that his numbers and batting approach have been very useful to Jaiswal and predicted that he will achieve great things in the future. He batted 625 times this season, with an average of 48.08 and a strike rate of 163.61.

“Yashasvi Jaiswal has been a standout. Look at the hundreds and fifties he’s amassed. Consider his 500-plus runs in the tournament. “He has done that opening the batting, and it tells you that he is something special,” Gavaskar told Sports Today.

Jaiswal was appointed to the Indian squad for the next World Test Championship (WTC) final on May 28 as a stand-by player because Ruturaj Gaikwad is getting married on June 3.

With his explosive exploits in the IPL 2023, the teenager shown what he is truly capable of. He scored 625 runs in 14 matches, with an average of 48.07 and a strike rate of 163.61. He had a century and five half-centuries, with the highest score being 124. He has scored the most runs in a single season by an uncapped player in IPL history.

Jaiswal’s impressive numbers do not end there. In just 26 innings, he has 1,845 runs at an average of 80.21 in 15 first-class matches, including nine hundred and two fifties. He has also scored 1,511 runs at an average of 53.96 in 32 List-A cricket innings, with five hundred, seven fifties, and a top score of 203.
