Warwickshire Keeps First Place With A Victory In The Final Over.

Warwickshire keeps first place with a victory in the final over.
Tom Taylor's five-for stunned Yorkshire.

Northamptonshire vs Yorkshire

Yorkshire’s chances of advancing to the elimination stages of this season’s T20 Blast were significantly hampered by Northamptonshire’s 78-run victory in Leeds. Yorkshire were bowled out for 102 runs after Northamptonshire fast bowler Tom Taylor bowled a sensational spell of 5 wickets for 28 runs.

Ricardo Vasconcelos and Emilio Gay’s 55-run opening partnership in the PowerPlay paved the way for Northamptonshire to consolidate and post a large total. They reached 180/6 thanks to Justin Broad’s (47* off 32) and David Willey’s (28 off 18) late intervention. Yorkshire was then decimated, initially by Ben Sanderson and Willey, collapsing to 22 for 4 in the PowerPlay. Dawid Malan was the only batsman to put up a fight, but Taylor quickly put an end to that as he swept through the middle order. In 8.3 overs, Yorkshire went from 49 for 4 to 88 for 9 to conclude their miserable evening. The loss not only maintains Yorkshire’s position below fourth, but also severely damages their net run differential (-0.75).

Brief Scores: Northamptonshire 180/6 in 20 overs (Justin Broad 47*, Emilio Gay 40; Jordan Thompson 2-42) beat Yorkshire 102 in 15.2 overs (Dawid Malan 34; Tom Taylor 5-28, David Willey 2-15) by 78 runs
