The West Indies extended their dominance in the second Test against Zimbabwe by reducing the hosts to 46 for 2 at Lunch on Day 3, still in front by a substantial 131 runs.
The start of the day was delayed due to wet outfield. Eventually, play resumed at 11.30 local. The West Indies, who began the day at 290 for 8, lost their last two wickets for just two runs and were bowled out for 292. Victor Nyuchi, who took both the wickets to fall, finished with a five-wicket haul.
The hosts, behind by a sizeable 177 runs, began their second innings too on a poor note, losing Tanunurwa Makoni and Chamu Chibhabha inside seven overs. Alzarri Joseph reaped the reward for combining short deliveries with fuller ones as he forced Makoni to edge one behind. Chibhabha then inside-edged one from the disciplined Holder.
At that stage, Innocent Kaia cracked the punch, drive, flick and pull to put a bit of pressure back on Joseph and Holder. The Zimbabwe camp would be hoping for Kaia and Zimbabwe skipper Craig Ervine to put on a stand of substance and erase some of the deficit in the second innings.
