During the second Twenty20 International that Afghanistan played against Bangladesh, head coach Jonathan Trott and player Azmatullah Omarzai were both issued fines for different events.
During the second Twenty20 international that was played against Bangladesh, both Jonathan Trott and Azmatullah Omarzai were penalized 15 percent of their match fees for breaking the Level 1 Code of Conduct.
Rain forced an early end to the cricket match that was being played in Sylhet. Afghanistan had just started their innings. Because of the lengthy rain delay, the total number of overs in the game was lowered to 17. Trott displayed his annoyance during an umpire inspection that took place during the break. He was informed that the game would not be resumed for a while longer than originally planned.
It was determined that Omarzai was in violation of Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which prohibits “using language, actions, or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an International Match.”
After taking his wicket in the 15th over of the chase, Omarzai provided the Bangladeshi batter Towhid Hridoy a dramatic exit by dismissing him in the next ball.
Trott and Omarzai have both been given one demerit point in addition to the monetary penalty because this is both of their first offenses within the past twenty-four months. Because both parties were satisfied with the decision made by the sanctioned Match Referee Neeyamur Rashid, a formal hearing was not necessary.
The match was won easily by Bangladesh, who chased down the target score of 117 with six wickets remaining and five balls remaining in the game. The Tigers were able to put the disheartening experience of losing the ODI series 2-1 behind them by sweeping the Twenty20 International leg of their visit 2-0.
