After Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Faf du Plessis, Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain Sanju Samson was fined for keeping a slow overrate during their win over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Chepauk on Wednesday night. Like Du Plessis, Samson will be fined Rs 12 lakh because this was his first offense of the season.
A statement from the IPL said, “Rajasthan Royals were fined for keeping a slow overrate during their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match 17 against Chennai Super Kings on Wednesday at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, Chennai.”
For the second time in a season, the bowling team leader will be fined 24 lakhs, and the other 10 players will be fined either 6 lakhs or 25% of their match fees, whichever is less. For the third offense in a season and every offense after that, the captain of the bowling team will have to pay a fine of Rs 30 lakh and be banned for one match. The other 10 players on the team will also have to pay a fine of either Rs 12 lakhs or 50% of their match money, whichever is less.
Even though his team, the Royals, beat CSK in Chennai for the first time since 2008, Samson had a terrible night because Ravindra Jadeja got rid of him for a duck. But Sandeep Sharma won the game with the ball in the end, stopping MS Dhoni and Jadeja from scoring 21 runs in the last over to win.
“It was a great job by the boys on this type of ground with so much dew.” Everybody was interested, and everyone wanted to win. We want to leave this place with happy memories. We wanted to go out on a good note. The ball was slowing down some. We tried to get (Adam) Zampa in as an impact player.” I tried to make the game last longer at the end, but it still went to the last over,” Samson said in the presentation after the game.
The final over was given to Royals pacer Sandeep Sharma. The young bowler said he wanted to work on his Yorkers. “I just wanted to execute my Yorkers.” He threw an excellent yorker in the practice nets. I tried to bowl the yorker on the heel but failed. So I went around the wicket, and the scores came out. “When I bowled to Jadeja, I didn’t want him to be able to catch the ball,” Sharma said.
