Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir were both penalized for violating the IPL Code of Conduct during the LSG versus RCB match on Monday.
Following the recent match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, both teams key figures have been fined for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct. After RCB won the match, a heated altercation between RCB captain Virat Kohli and LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir broke out on the field, involving several other players.
LSG opening batter Kyle Mayers and Gambhir had an exchange with Kohli, which further escalated the situation. However, the players eventually calmed down, and Gambhir was fined 100% of his match fee for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct under Article 2.21 of the Code. Kohli was also fined 100% of his match fee for the same reason.
Additionally, LSG bowler Naveen-ul-Haq was fined 50% of his match fee for committing a Level 1 offense under Article 2.21 of the IPL Code of Conduct. The IPL has taken strict action against the players to maintain the integrity of the game and ensure that such incidents do not occur in the future.
