Axar Patel garnered significant attention due to a widely circulated screenshot, after his exclusion from India’s World Cup roster and subsequent replacement by Ravichandran Ashwin.

The spin-bowling allrounder sustained a thigh injury during the Super Four contest against Bangladesh in the Asia Cup 2023 earlier this month, subsequent to being included in the provisional World Cup team. Washington Sundar was chosen as a replacement for him in the final, but the selectors then decided to recall Ravichandran Ashwin for the three-match series against Australia.

The inclusion of Axar Patel in the roster for the third One Day International (ODI) was contingent upon his physical condition. Nevertheless, his recovery was unsuccessful, resulting in his absence from the third One Day International (ODI) as well. In contrast, Ravichandran Ashwin exhibited his exceptional economic performance by participating in all three matches.

On Thursday, September 28, the selectors made a significant decision about the final roster, adhering to the deadline for submission. Due to Axar Patel’s inability to recuperate within the designated timeframe, Ravichandran Ashwin was included in the World Cup roster.

Did Axar Patel post a message that wasn't clear?

Axar Patel couldn’t play in the World Cup because he hurt his thigh, but it seemed like there was more to the story. A picture of a story on his Instagram account went popular after it was taken. It was said that it would be removed soon.

One post showed a human skeleton holding a pair of scissors and cutting a heart. His second post had the words “Should have taken science instead of commerce and hired a better PR” written with a sadness emoji. Not surprisingly, the pictures went viral, which led many people to think that his being kicked off the team wasn’t for nothing.

But it seems like the pictures were not real. A well-known cricket writer wrote on X to explain what was going on:

“Hello everyone! There’s a fake screenshot doing the rounds today which is allegedly taken from @akshar2026’s Instagram page.”

“He has NOT posted any such story on his social media account, so the question of deleting it doesn’t arise. Please treat this as an official clarification, which I’m issuing on his behalf. Thank you,” he added.
