‘Few players are not welcome in their side,’ Pakistani star says of Babar Azam’s team.

On Monday, Pakistan suffered their third consecutive loss in the 2023 World Cup, falling to Afghanistan by an 8-wicket margin.

Pakistan suffered a shock defeat to Afghanistan in the 2023 World Cup group stage earlier this week, putting them on the verge of elimination. Babar Azam’s side now face a difficult job of completing a comeback with two wins in five matches and a negative Net Run Rate (NRR); more crucially, two of their next opponents, South Africa and New Zealand, are safely in the top-4 and have been performing strongly thus far.

Pakistan players are under fire after three consecutive losses in the competition, and captain Babar Azam is under fire from a slew of top cricketers at home. Some of Babar’s captaincy decisions garnered criticism, and his defensive strategy against Afghanistan during the latter’s 283-run chase perplexed many. However, Pakistan’s standout batter Ahmed Shehzad has made an inflammatory accusation about the Pakistan team’s dressing room bonding.

Shehzad claims that certain Pakistani stars are given preferential treatment, while others are put in difficult positions on the field in order to eventually drop them from the XI. Shehzad made his assertion during an appearance on Pakistan’s ARY News.

“I’ve spoken with a few players.” Only a few athletes are not welcome in the locker room. They are not treated or treated with the same amount of confidence as others. They aim to keep certain players on the team while letting others go. Tayyab Tahir was brought in, told he wasn’t welcome, and was thrown out. Saud Shakeel was brought in based on his success in Tests. We’ve been telling Usama Mir that he needs to get some game time before the World Cup since he’s a wrist-spinner. When the ball gets old, he is more effective. And he comes in as the 11th over. They’re attempting to save select gamers while exposing others,” Shehzad explained.
