The Indian cricket team has been granted a two-day vacation following Sunday’s (October 22) victory over New Zealand in Dharamsala. The team will travel to Lucknow, their next World Cup destination, on October 25 after taking a couple of days off in the picturesque Himachal Pradesh hill town.
On October 23, a spokesperson for the team verified to CricAdvisor that the team will travel to Lucknow on October 25. There are currently no optional or regularly scheduled practice or net sessions planned. On October 29, India is scheduled to face England in Lucknow.
India is presently in first place in the standings after five consecutive victories. They have four more matches remaining: on October 29 in Lucknow against England, on November 2 in Mumbai against Sri Lanka, on November 5 in Kolkata against South Africa, and on November 12 in Bengaluru against the Netherlands.
There is currently no information regarding Hardik Pandya’s availability at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, where he is receiving treatment for an ankle injury sustained during the match against Bangladesh. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has stated that there are no plans to designate a successor, and the all-rounder is anticipated to be completely fit for the match against England.
Pandya injured his ankle while bowling against Bangladesh in Pune on October 19, resulting in his exclusion from the Dharamsala match squad. A knowledgeable source stated, “It is merely a sprain, nothing significant. He must be available for selection in the match against Lucknow.”
In addition, Ishan Kishan, who was attacked by an insect prior to the New Zealand game, has been confirmed to be in excellent health.
