IPL 2023: CSK defeated Gujarat in a cliffhanger in Ahmedabad to win their fifth IPL title.

The Chennai Super Kings defeated the Gujarat Titans by five wickets in the 2023 IPL Final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The Super Kings have already won their fifth IPL title.

The Super Kings were given a revised goal of 171 runs in 15 overs, and the openers – Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway – got the team off to a flying start, putting on a 74-run partnership in 6.3 overs. Conway scored a 25-ball 47, while Ruturaj scored 26 off 16. Ajinkya Rahane then came in and batted brilliantly, getting a 13-ball 27.

The match swung like a pendulum, and it all came down to the last over…. 13 to win. Mohit Sharma gave up three runs off the first four deliveries, reducing the equation to 10 runs needed off the final two deliveries, with Ravindra Jadeja on strike.

It came down to the penultimate ball after Jadeja hit a superb six right down the ground…. 4 needed off of 1….. Mohit bowled a low full toss as the Super Kings crossed the finish line, which Jadeja flicked away to the boundary.

The Gujarat Titans batted first and scored 214/4 on the board. Wriddhiman Saha (54) and Shubman Gill (39) put on a 67-run partnership in seven overs. Gill has dismissed thanks to a stroke of genius from MS Dhoni behind the wickets. Ravindra Jadeja beat the right-hander outside off stump, and Dhoni swept the bails off in a hurry as Gill was caught short of the crease.

Sai Sudharsan then came out and smashed a 47-ball 96. The left-hander’s inning featured eight fours and six sixes. Hardik Pandya then came in for a brief cameo and scored a 12-ball 21*. For the Super Kings, Matheesha Pathirana took two wickets.
