KL Rahul limped off the pitch with a hamstring injury during the Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). The LSG captain was chasing the ball when he became ill and collapsed to the ground. He remained there for some time, and a stretcher was called for him.
Rahul stood up and went off the field on his own, which was great news for LSG fans. Because LSG is missing its captain, Krunal Pandya has assumed command. He was spotted altering the field and guiding players.
LSG lacks a formal vice-captain. However, it appears that Krunal has been given the vice-captaincy in an unofficial capacity. The out-of-favor India all-rounder joined the franchise in the IPL 2022 mega-auction for Rs 8.25 crore.
He was chosen over Marcus Stoinis, who is two years his senior. Stoinis is a frequent member of Australia’s white-ball teams and one of the top all-rounders in the world. Not to mention, he was LSG’s pre-auction pick, signing for Rs 11 crore. As a result, he appeared to be ahead of Pandya. However, the franchise has chosen the Indian all-rounder for the top spot.
If KL Rahul is unable to play in the next match, Pandya will make his IPL debut as captain. On Wednesday (May 3), the Lucknow-based franchise will play host to the Chennai Super Kings. The home team will be hoping Rahul is fit for the game.
LSG is second in the points chart with 5 victories from 8 games. A win over RCB in the current match will propel them to the top of the points table. The Gujarat Titans currently hold the top spot with 6 victories.
