Najam Sethi jokes that the Indo-Pakistani World Cup match should have been played in Chennai or Kolkata, but not in Ahmedabad.

Najam Sethi, the chief of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), has retaliated against the Indian cricket board ahead of the 2023 ODI World Cup in the ongoing dispute over the Asia Cup.

According to the current cricket director, a former journalist, India’s decision not to travel to Pakistan will have repercussions because Pakistan also holds the rights to host the Champions Trophy in 2025.

After learning that the Indo-Pak match might be held in Ahmedabad, Sethi also questioned the plans of the BCCI. He wants Pakistan’s World Cup games to be moved out of India now for security reasons.

Najam Sethi told The Indian Express the following:
This is what Najam Sethi told The Indian Express:

“I smiled and thought, “This is one way to make sure we don’t come to India,” when I heard that the Pakistan match would be held in Ahmedabad.”I mean, if you had said Kolkata or Chennai, it might have made sense.”
The 74-year-old stated that India should also be treated fairly if PCB, which also owns the rights to host the 2023 Asia Cup, uses a hybrid strategy to allow India to play outside of Pakistan. He said:

“In the event that India currently needs an unbiased spot and consents to the cross-breed model, we’ll involve a similar half-and-half model for the World Cup. Both the Champions Trophy and the World Cup are open to Pakistan to play in Dhaka or any other location that India agrees to.

PCB chief: “No decision has yet been taken” on whether or not the Asia Cup will be held in the UAE or Sri Lanka.

Najam Sethi additionally said that no last decision has been made about where the 2023 Asia Cup will be held. He stated that the Asian Cricket Council (ACC)’s acceptance of the hybrid plan is still unknown.

The continental event was supposed to take place in Pakistan, but India said they wouldn’t go there due to political tensions between them and Pakistan.

Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates have also emerged as strong contenders to host the Asia Cup in its wake. In any case, the Asian Cricket Board has not yet gone with a last choice regarding this situation.

Sethi commented on this:

It has not yet been decided whether Sri Lanka, the United Arab Emirates, or a third location will host the event. The main inquiry is, “Is the cross-breed model that we’ve proposed OK? Are those guidelines going to be followed? Assuming the ACC demands that all games are to be held in one setting, we will not play the Asia Cup.”

According to the mixture model, every one of the excess four nations, notwithstanding India, ought to play something like one game each in Pakistan prior to moving to an optional scene for the remaining seven rounds of the mainland competition.
