Royal Challengers Bangalore fans were surprised on Thursday when Virat Kohli came out for the toss against Punjab Kings in the IPL 2023. Kohli is taking over as captain because Faf du Plessis is still recovering from his injury against Chennai Super Kings.
PBKS, on the other hand, won the coin toss and chose to field. Shikhar Dhawan is out with a shoulder injury, so Punjab’s captain, Sam Curran, is still in charge.
Liam Livingstone is also back and getting ready to play Punjab’s first game of the season.
Kohli said at the start, “Faf might not be able to field today, so he’ll play as an impact player and switch with Vyshak.”
RCB’s last game was against CSK, and they lost. They are now in eighth place in the points table, with only two wins out of five games.
“We got to do what we wanted; we would have played first.” The pitch could get slow, and some scuff marks will help the bowlers as the game progresses. Kohli said we have yet to do things like taking one game at a time, focusing on our own game, and making the most of tight situations so far in the event.
Kohli has led RCB in 140 games, 64 of which were wins and 69 of which were losses. Three matches ended in ties, and four had no winner.
Fans were happy to see Kohli back as the leader of the RCB on Twitter.
